Type design starts with finding ideas and inspiration. Edmondson often finds himself inspired by “blue collar graphic design”—sign-painting, stretched default sans type, peeling vinyl lettering, etc. But as he explains in his process documentation, inspiration comes from a myriad of places. In fact, some of his typefaces were inspired by work he did in school, either at CCA or TypeMedia.

“We don’t make typefaces to make money, we make money to make more typefaces.”
